The Zhetisu Regional Department of State Revenue informs market participants and consumers that, effective September 1, 2026, mandatory digital labeling of beer and beer-based beverages in glass bottles will be introduced in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Products manufactured or imported after this date must be labeled with a special Data Matrix code. Without such a code, the sale of new products in glass containers will be prohibited.

The labeling of beer and beer-based beverages will be introduced in phases:

- starting February 1, 2026 — for products in kegs;

- starting September 1, 2026 — for products in glass bottles;

- starting January 1, 2027 — for products in cans.

Going forward, the system will ensure full digital traceability of products—from the manufacturer or importer to retail sale—including the electronic processing and verification of documents when goods are transferred between participants in the supply chain.

Digital labeling will make it possible to track the path of each unit of goods, increase market transparency, reduce the risks associated with the circulation of illegal and counterfeit products, and create a level playing field for bona fide market participants.

What Market Participants Need to Do

Market participants (manufacturers, importers, wholesalers, and retailers) must:

1. Register with the Digital System for Product Marking and Traceability (DS MTP) on the tanba.markirovka.kz portal.
2. Register product records.

It is recommended that you complete the registration process in advance to receive the labeling codes on time and avoid operational disruptions.

Important: Unlabeled remaining stock of beer and beer-based beverages produced before the date mandatory labeling was introduced for the relevant type of packaging may be sold within one calendar year.

The Zhetisu Regional Department of State Revenue urges market participants to prepare for the new requirements in a timely manner.
