Ambassador meets the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Lithuania

31 August 2026, Vilnius – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Lithuania Timur Urazayev met with Vice-Minister of Transport and Communications of Lithuania Lukas Paškevičius.

The sides discussed current issues of Kazakhstan–Lithuania cooperation in the transport and logistics sector, including prospects for international road transport, the exchange of permits and the possibility of transitioning to an electronic permit system, as well as practical matters related to cargo transit.

Particular attention was paid to the digitalisation of the international road transport permit system and Kazakhstan’s experience in this area in cooperation with a number of foreign partners, including Turkey, China, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Georgia. The sides agreed to continue cooperation between the relevant specialists of the two countries’ transport authorities.

The Ambassador briefed the Lithuanian side on the dynamic development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) as one of the key transport routes between China and Europe, as well as on Kazakhstan’s large-scale infrastructure modernisation. Lithuanian partners were invited to take a more active part in the development of the Middle Corridor and major investment projects, as well as to participate in the upcoming TransLogistica Kazakhstan international exhibition and the New Silk Way International Transport and Logistics Business Forum in Astana.
