Ridder is strengthening its potential for year-round mountain tourism

Ridder has all the prerequisites to become one of the key mountain tourism centers in Kazakhstan. Its mountainous terrain, long snow season and unique nature create favorable conditions for developing tourism throughout the year — from winter sports to active summer and eco-tourism.

Today, 42 tourism facilities are registered in the city. In the first quarter of 2026, Ridder welcomed around 11,000 tourists, including approximately 1,300 foreign visitors.

At the same time, the city's tourism infrastructure continues to expand. This year, the Ridder Inn hotel complex and restaurant, worth 750 million tenge, was commissioned. The reconstruction of Ridder Resort Hotel and the Edelweiss tourist base is ongoing, while the Altay Kompas tourist complex project is being implemented.

One of the promising projects is the development of the Anatau year-round ski resort. The implementation of the project will significantly expand Ridder's tourism opportunities and help create a full-fledged mountain tourism hub focused on welcoming tourists throughout the year.

Tourists should not come to Ridder just for a few hours, but stay here for several days, use local services and return again,” said Nury mbet Saktaganov, Akim of East Kazakhstan Region.

The development of Ridder as a year-round tourist destination will contribute to increasing the length of tourists' stays, creating new opportunities for entrepreneurship, the hotel business and the service sector, as well as further developing the city's economy.

Key priorities include further development of tourism infrastructure, increasing the number of accommodation facilities, expanding the range of services and creating favorable conditions for implementing new investment projects in mountain and eco-tourism.
