In accordance with a special instruction from the Head of State, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and Head of the Presidential Administration Roman Sklyar attended a meeting of deputies of the Almaty Region Maslikhat.

At the meeting, Roman Sklyar presented to the deputies President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s letter proposing two candidates for the position of Akim of Almaty Region: former Minister of Emergency Situations Chingis Arinov and Deputy Akim of Almaty Region Gani Mailybayev.

A total of 178 deputies attended the meeting. Following the open vote, 83% of the deputies supported the candidacy of Chingis Arinov. Subsequently, by the relevant Presidential Decree, Chingis Arinov was appointed Akim of Almaty Region.
