Geneva, 10 July 2026 – The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), within the framework of the World Summit on the Information Society Forum 2026 (WSIS Forum 2026), named Kazakhstani startup OncoZero.AI a Champion of the WSIS Prizes 2026 in the category "ICT Applications: e-health" (Action Line C7).

The award was given to the project "Neural Network Software for Detecting Abdominal Cancers and Leukemia", developed by young Kazakhstani entrepreneurs Alimzhan Kassabayev and Almukhamed Amitov. The founders are in their early twenties, with one studying at a British university and the other at a Kazakhstani university.

As the developers were unable to travel to Geneva in person, the award was received on their behalf by Kazakhstan's Permanent Representative to the WTO and other international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador K. Torebayev.

OncoZero.AI is a neural network for the automated diagnosis of cancer. At this stage, the software helps detect liver cancer, and according to its creators, its functionality will be expanded to other types of cancer in the future.

The Champion certificate was signed by ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin and presented during WSIS Forum 2026, held in Geneva from 6 to 10 July 2026.

OncoZero.AI's win is a further confirmation of the growing potential of Kazakhstani startups in artificial intelligence and its application in healthcare.
