Thimphu, 18 September 2026 - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of India and concurrently to the Kingdom of Bhutan Azamat Yeskarayev presented his credentials to King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan.

During the solemn ceremony, the Ambassador conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to the King from President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and reaffirmed the Kazakh side's commitment to making all necessary efforts to further strengthen friendly relations and expand bilateral cooperation.

Following the ceremony, Ambassador Yeskarayev held a separate meeting with the King of Bhutan, who extended his best wishes to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and noted that he closely follows Kazakhstan's development and achievements. He expressed particular interest in digitalization processes, the development of new technologies, the activities of the Astana Hub international technology park, as well as prospects for cooperation in digital economy, innovation, and information technology. In this regard, interest was also noted in studying Kazakhstan's experience in these fields for possible application within the framework of the “Gelephu Mindfulness City” (GMC) project implemented in southern Bhutan near the border with India.

The King of Bhutan also expressed interest in visiting the Republic of Kazakhstan in the near future and proposed coordinating the timing and format of the visit through diplomatic channels.

A separate meeting took place with Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Bhutan Dina Nath Dhungel, focusing on the current state of Kazakh-Bhutanese relations, prospective areas for their further development, and expanding the legal framework for bilateral cooperation.

The parties also emphasized the importance of further developing cultural and humanitarian ties, including tourism, academic cooperation, and youth exchanges.

Following the visit, mutual interest was confirmed in further strengthening political dialogue, expanding the legal framework, developing practical cooperation in trade, economic, technological, and humanitarian spheres, as well as maintaining regular contacts.
