The parties discussed prospects for developing Kazakhstan as a regional platform for the World Economic Forum’s engagement on artificial intelligence and digital transformation in Central Asia.

Zhaslan Madiyev presented several areas for potential cooperation, including the development of AI governance approaches for the public sector, the expansion of data centre infrastructure and the Data Embassy framework for hosting international digital infrastructure, as well as the application of AI in public administration building on Kazakhstan’s GovTech experience.

Particular attention was given to the intersection of artificial intelligence, energy and the infrastructure required to support the growing AI economy. The parties discussed opportunities for broader cooperation across this ecosystem, including the development of energy and data centre capacity, telecommunications and international connectivity, as well as the role of critical minerals in building resilient AI infrastructure and technology value chains. They also exchanged views on the application of AI in the energy sector and on opportunities to connect Kazakhstan’s energy, digital infrastructure and technology capabilities with the global AI ecosystem.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue the dialogue on the areas of cooperation discussed and explore practical next steps. The WEF delegation was also introduced to the scale and broader vision of AI & Digital Bridge as an international platform bringing together leaders from the technology, digital and AI communities from Central Eurasia and around the world. In this context, WEF representatives were invited to explore possible participation in the upcoming forum, taking place on 1–3 October in Astana, as well as opportunities for engagement in future editions and related initiatives.

As part of the visit, the delegation toured the alem.ai International Center for Artificial Intelligence, where they were introduced to Kazakhstan’s emerging AI and technology ecosystem and the work of Astana Hub, TUMO Astana and Tomorrow School.
