22 September 2026, Ljubljana – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Slovenia Altay Abibullayev held a meeting at the Embassy with Professor Ludvik Toplak, Rector of Alma Mater Europaea University, Member of the World Academy of Art and Science, and Director of the Global Peace Offensive Center. The discussions focused on intercivilizational and interreligious dialogue, strengthening a culture of peace, as well as expanding academic and expert cooperation between Kazakhstan and Slovenia.

Professor Toplak highly commended Kazakhstan’s political reforms and development dynamics, with particular emphasis on the country’s international initiatives aimed at promoting peace, dialogue and sustainable development. The parties discussed opportunities to establish sustainable mechanisms for expert and academic engagement, including the organization of joint conferences, round tables and thematic discussions involving scholars, experts and representatives of the interfaith community.

Particular attention was devoted to Kazakhstan’s experience in promoting interreligious dialogue, the activities of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, Kazakhstan’s engagement with the Holy See, as well as the forthcoming 24th meeting of the Secretariat of the Congress in Astana. The parties expressed interest in further bringing together the intellectual and expert capacities of Kazakhstan and Slovenia to promote dialogue among cultures and religions, uphold human dignity, foster youth development, and seek joint responses to contemporary global challenges.

Reference: On 6 August 2025, Alma Mater Europaea University signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in Ljubljana with the Sherkhan Murtaza International Taraz University. The memorandum provides for joint educational, research and cultural projects, exchanges of students and faculty, as well as the organization of conferences, seminars and other academic events.

On 30 April 2026, the International Center for Interfaith and Interreligious Dialogue (Astana) and Slovenia’s Global Peace Offensive Center signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the areas of interreligious, intercultural and intergenerational dialogue, as well as joint educational, research and public initiatives. The memorandum was signed with the participation of Gulsana Kozhabay, Chairperson of the Board of the International Center for Interfaith and Interreligious Dialogue.
