Law enforcement authorities draw attention to the key threats that citizens encounter on a daily basis:
1. Beware of Money Mules (Droppers)!
Money Mules (Droppers) are individuals used in fraudulent schemes to transfer and cash out stolen funds in order to conceal the actual organizers of the crime. They may act knowingly or be manipulated unknowingly ("blindly").
Who is at Risk: Students (aged 18–25), retirees, temporarily unemployed citizens, as well as labor migrants and non-residents of the Republic of Kazakhstan frequently fall into high-risk categories.
Recruitment Methods: Through advertisements offering "easy money" and "passive income" on popular platforms (e.g., olx.kz), disguised as "courier services" or "remote work". Offers promise earnings of up to 500,000 KZT per month for just 10 minutes of online work per day.
Important to Know: Participation in such schemes carries criminal liability.
2. Deepfakes — Digital Forgeries
Modern artificial intelligence technologies allow fraudsters to create convincing fake faces and voices (deepfakes) in just seconds. Their goal is deception, blackmail, spreading disinformation, and stealing personal data and financial assets.
Key Facts: Over 500,000 deepfake videos are published online every month, and global damages from deepfakes exceed $12 billion annually.
The "Three NOs" Rule:
Do NOT trust everything you see and hear.
Do NOT rush to transfer funds or forward content.
Do NOT act under emotional pressure.
Recommendations: Always verify the source of information and pay attention to details (facial expressions, sound artifacts, movements, background). Use specialized services (Deepware, InVID, Sensity) to verify media files.
3. Vaping Prevention and Health Protection
The FMA reminds the public about the dangers of using electronic cigarettes (vapes). Vaping is not a safe alternative to smoking and contains hazardous toxic chemicals (formaldehyde, acetone), heavy metals (nickel, lead), and nicotine, which quickly leads to addiction.
Consequences: Vaping causes severe damage to the brain, lungs, cardiovascular system, and mental health. Adolescents who vape are 3 times more likely to start smoking conventional cigarettes.
Responsibility: Choose a nicotine-free lifestyle and say "NO" to harmful habits for the sake of your future!
