A car repair shop specializing in bodywork and painting has started operating in the maximum security institution of the UIS in the Abai region.

           The parking lot has been operating for about a week, and during this time, the convicts have already repaired two cars. Currently, five convicts are working at the car service. It is planned to create five more jobs by the end of this year.

          Convicts work on a piecework basis. For them, this is an opportunity to gain professional skills, earn money, pay off debts on claims and provide financial support to their families.

           Citizens who wish to repair their cars can use the car service. To do this, it is necessary to conclude a service agreement with an individual entrepreneur and obtain permission from the head of the institution for the vehicle to enter the territory of the institution.

            In order to ensure the security regime, the car undergoes a thorough inspection before entry, which is carried out by the staff of the operational security department together with the military personnel. Only after carrying out the necessary security measures, the vehicle is allowed to enter the territory of the institution.

            The car service has already begun to attract customers with the quality of work performed and affordable prices.

          - I am glad that there is an opportunity to work in my specialty here. Before my conviction, I worked at a service station, so I'm familiar with car repairs. I like this job, and I'm glad that I can do what I can. Salary is also very important to me. I use part of the money to settle the lawsuit against the verdict, and I try to send some of it to my family. I have three school-age children, so I want to help my loved ones. Thank you to the staff of the institution for the opportunity to work and benefit," the convict shared.

            - To date, the institution has five individual entrepreneurs and two limited liability partnerships that produce furniture, household soap, tableware and other wood products. The development of production activities in the institution makes it possible to create new jobs for convicts, provide them with employment and promote their social adaptation," said Yerkin Isabekov, head of the Department for Labor Organization of convicts.
