Rizabek Aitmukhan won the World Wrestling Championship (U23), which was held in Tirana, the capital of Albania.
In the final of the 97 kg weight category, the wrestler of the national team defeated the Iranian opponent Mahdi Moharamali Morafa with a score of 11:6, demonstrating his skills.
Thus, Rizabek became the first Kazakhstani wrestler to win gold at the world Championships in three age categories. Last year he became the world champion among adults (up to 92 kg) in Belgrade, and this year — among wrestlers under 20 (up to 97 kg) in Pontevedra.
His opponent, 22-year—old Mahdi, is the silver medalist of the 2021 World Junior Championships.
The day before, Rizabek had three fights: in the first he won a clean victory over Callum William Knock (Canada), then defeated Vladislav Kozlov (a neutral athlete). In the semifinals, the Kazakhstani confidently defeated Shamil Imam Gadzhaliyev.
Competitions among wrestlers under 23 years of age in Tirana have ended, and the national team of Kazakhstan has adequately completed the tournament, winning the prestigious gold.
