Negotiations between the Heads of the transport departments of Kazakhstan and China, Marat Karabayev and Liu Wei, took place in the capital of the People's Republic of China (Beijing) on December 5 this year
The meeting was organized as part of the working visit of Minister Marat Karabayev to Beijing.
During the meeting, the head of the Kazakh department congratulated the new Minister of Transport of China, Mr. Liu Wei, on taking office and expressed readiness to further strengthen cooperation in the transport sector.
At the meeting, the parties noted a significant increase in the volume of transportation in the field of rail and road transportation, an increase in the number of flights between the countries, as well as transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM).
In particular, the volume of transportation between Kazakhstan and China in the field of rail transport increased by 13% in 10 months of this year to 26.6 million tons, in the field of road transport in the 3rd quarter, the volume of transportation increased by 60% to 1.9 million tons.
During the negotiations, an agreement was reached on the joint development of the TMTM route, as well as the joint loading of this corridor with the creation of a permanent working group to ensure the smooth passage of goods. Within the framework of these agreements, in December this year it is planned to launch a trial flight for the transportation of lithium-ion batteries from China along the TMTM corridor.
At the moment, the volume of shipments from China via TMTM (in the direction of China-Europe) has exceeded 27 thousand containers in twenty-foot equivalent, which is 25 times more than the same period last year. In addition, the possibility of creating new routes and developing cargo transportation through cross-border rivers between Kazakhstan and China was discussed.
Also, thanks to the coordinated work of the transport departments, the Ministers noted the transition to an electronic format for exchanging forms for international road transport. Carriers have the opportunity to receive forms within an hour via a digital platform.
