A visiting meeting of the Journalists' Club of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan was held in Konaev, where key issues of interethnic relations and the role of mass media in their development were discussed.
The event was attended by representatives of government agencies, experts and members of the Journalists' Club from Turkestan, Zhambyl, Zhetysu and Ulytau regions, as well as the cities of Almaty and Shymkent.
The speakers discussed the role of the media in the harmonious development of interethnic relations in the country, strengthening the unity of the nation, promoting the Kazakh language as the language of interethnic communication, forming the immunity of citizens to provocative and destructive information and preventing the “language of hostility” on interethnic topics, especially in social networks.
The Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with the APK Secretariat and local executive bodies, is implementing a set of educational and other measures aimed at involving NGOs and the media in the work to ensure interethnic harmony and unity of the people of the country.
In this context, it is important to provide methodological support to both members of the APK and ethno-cultural associations, as well as NGOs and the media.
The meeting ended with a networking session, during which the participants exchanged views and discussed topical issues.
The results of the event were summarized in the format of questions and answers, which contributed to a constructive dialogue and cooperation.
