On October 29, 2024, the Ethics Commissioner of the Information Security Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Committee) Aganasova S.G. gave a lecture on the topic "Ludomania".
The lecture was aimed at raising awareness about ludomania syndrome, gambling (pathological gambling addiction, gambling addiction). During the lecture, the concepts of pathological gamblers are revealed, the main reasons for the formation of gambling addiction, as well as factors predisposing to gambling are given.
In addition, the lecture discussed the mechanisms of involvement in ludomania, the stages of gambling development, errors of thinking in ludomania, classification by stages of formation of pathological attraction to gambling, what socio-economic consequences gambling addiction leads to, and also raised the issue of treatment methods (drug and psychotherapeutic) of gambling disorder.
At the same time, the importance of preventing ludomania was explained, both in the family and in the workplace.
At the end of the lecture, the Ethics Commissioner explained the norms of legislation, in particular, a ban on the participation of civil servants, military personnel, law enforcement officers and special state bodies in gambling and betting is provided.
At the same time, in March 2024, a service for voluntary self-restriction of participation in gambling and betting in an online format was launched through the eGov mobile application.
