Kazakhstan's first Chess House opened in Kokshetau

The grand opening of the country's first Chess House, a unique center created for the training and development of chess skills, took place in Kokshetau today. The opening ceremony was attended by Akim of Akmola region Marat Akhmetzhanov and President of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation Timur Turlov, as well as junior champions — World champion 2023 under 10 Danis Kuandykuly and Asian Championships medalist Zhansaya Sholpanbek.
"The opening of the Chess House is a significant event for our region. This center will become not only a place for chess players to train, but also a point of attraction for young people striving for success in this intellectual game. The implementation of this project was carried out within the framework of the instructions of the Head of State," Marat Akhmetzhanov noted in his speech.
Timur Turlov stressed the importance of the initiative for the development of the chess movement in Kazakhstan.
"The Chess House will become a key platform for training new champions, popularizing chess among young people and creating opportunities for improving the skills of players," T. Turlov said.
The project was implemented by the Kazakhstan Chess Federation (KazChess) with the support of its general partner, Freedom Broker. The Chess house is equipped with modern game rooms, which provide comfortable conditions for training, training and competitions. The center will also be used to organize training camps, prepare chess players for major tournaments and improve their professional level.
Special attention is paid to creating conditions for master classes, which will be conducted by eminent grandmasters. The center will become a platform for the exchange of experience between chess players of different levels.
To date, 13,450 people are engaged in chess in the Akmola region, with 248 coaches working with them. There are 5 youth sports schools in the region, where 138 young chess players improve their skills under the guidance of coaches. In addition, there are 395 school chess sections in the region, where more than 7 thousand students study, and 38 schools have opened courses on "Fundamentals of Chess" as part of the variable component.
For tournaments in the region, there is a qualified judicial staff of 11 judges of the first category, one judge of the international category and a FIDE arbitrator.
The opening of the Chess House in Kokshetau has become an important stage in the development of the chess movement in Kazakhstan, providing chess players with new opportunities for growth and achieving high results.
