A training seminar on the topic "Fundamentals of gender equality" was organized by UN Women in Kazakhstan with the support of the National Commission on Women's Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan for representatives of government agencies.
The training was based on the certified "I Know Gender" course developed by the UN Women headquarters. The participants got acquainted with the key mechanisms for achieving and promoting gender equality, with the methodology of women's empowerment.
The participants were also told about the main directions of family and gender policy in Kazakhstan and international experience in these areas.
The seminar is timed to coincide with the international campaign "16 active days against gender-based violence".
