The emergency services of the East Kazakhstan region honed their skills in eliminating the accident with the bottling of toxic substances. According to legend, as a result of an emergency depressurization of a railway tank, liquid ammonia was spilled, causing a dangerous cloud of toxic gas. An emergency response headquarters was set up at the site of the exercise. The rescue team reacted quickly, ensuring the protection and evacuation of the conditional victims to a safe area. The branch of the Disaster Medicine Center provided first aid to personnel who received conditional injuries.
Together with the non-governmental fire service of JSC KTZ, an ammonia cloud was deposited, a foam cushion was created to prevent ammonia evaporation and an emergency bandage was installed on the tank. Employees of the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of Transport carried out measurement, soil sampling and degassing of equipment and personnel.
During the coordinated actions of the emergency services, the emergency situation was eliminated. In the event of an accident involving the bottling of toxic liquids, gas contamination of areas in the surrounding area occurs, which may pose a threat to people living near the facility. The emergency departments of the East Kazakhstan region have worked out not only their skills, but also interaction with representatives of the railway and other services necessary in the event of such an emergency.
Also, the emergency departments of the Karaganda region have worked out joint actions for an emergency situation in case of chlorine leakage on the railway. On the basis of KTZ - Freight Transportation LLP GP - Karaganda branch, actions were carried out to eliminate chlorine leakage, install water curtains, neutralize by fire train by spraying foam on the surface of liquid chlorine, provide assistance to victims, identify areas of possible infection and sanitary treatment of personnel and equipment. During the exercises, the emergency situation that occurred according to legend was completely eliminated. The services involved acted smoothly, quickly and professionally.
