On December 4-6, 2024, an international training seminar on tourism for representatives of the participating countries and observers of the Organization of Turkic States was held in Turkestan. This event is organized in accordance with the Action Plan for the implementation of the decisions of the 10th OTG Summit.
The seminar was attended by experts in the tourism industry from Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and the OTG Secretariat. The speakers were Chairman of the Tourism Industry Committee of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurtas Karipbayev, Rector of the International University of Tourism and Hospitality Alibek Shokparov, Professor of the International Kazakh-Turkish University. Khoja Ahmed Yasawi Mr. Kemal Kantarji, Head of the Tourism Department of Turkestan region Nurdaulet Medeuov, Acting Director General of the Tourist Information Center Open Turkistan Temur Muratov, Director General of Turkistan Invest Berik Kenzhebayev, as well as representative of the National Kazakh tourism Company Ernur Kenzhebekov.
The participants of the event discussed issues of tourism development in Kazakhstan, personnel training, digitalization, big data processing, etc. They shared the tourism opportunities of their countries, as well as opinions and experiences of tourism development.
During the visit to Turkestan, the participants got acquainted with the work of the sports club of the International University of Tourism and Hospitality, the Turkistan TV channel, the development of the tourist cluster of the Turkestan region, and got acquainted with the activities of the Open Turkistan tourist information center. They were presented with the investment opportunities of the Turkestan region.
At the same time, the participants of the seminar were presented with an excursion program to the sights of the Turkestan region, as well as the Otrar and Sauran districts. It is worth noting that the city of Turkestan is the tourist capital of the Turkic world for 2024.
