Today, the Government Hour held in the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan considered the issue of ensuring water safety and preparing for the upcoming spring floods. The Minister of Emergency Situations, Major General Chingiz Arinov, attended the event and touched upon current measures to prevent floods and protect the population.
According to Chingiz Arinov, after analyzing last year's floods and implementing measures to eliminate their consequences, important conclusions were drawn, which allowed us to take systematic measures to prevent floods. The Ministry of Emergency Situations is in close cooperation with local executive and interested state bodies to prepare infrastructure for possible floods.
The main measures to prevent emergencies are assigned to central and local executive bodies. Flood prevention measures are being implemented within the framework of republican and regional programs, which allows us to minimize the risk of flooding and protect settlements.
Currently, there are 1,223 settlements in Kazakhstan in flood-prone areas. More than 1,400 flood control measures have been implemented in various regions of the country, including: construction and strengthening of 576 km of protective dams and embankments, construction and repair of 164 km of drainage systems, installation and replacement of 960 water mains. permeable structures, construction of 658 km of canals and ditches, dredging of more than 300 km of channels and strengthening of banks on 74 rivers.
Construction and repair of storm and drainage systems, safe landfills in settlements are being actively carried out. snow removal works have been identified.
Particular attention is paid to the introduction of digital technologies for flood forecasting. The TASQYN flood forecasting and modeling system was created on the basis of the Command Center for Strategic Planning and Operational Management, which allows for accurate forecasting of river levels and water volumes in the short and long term.
“Group of Forces. "A resource of more than 37,000 people and 13,000 pieces of equipment from the civil defense services, including 4,096 water pumping units and 640 floating devices, has been created. In addition, reserve groups of territorial divisions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations have been trained," the minister said.
The minister noted that the emergency services are ready to respond to any emergency situation and a number of readiness checks will be carried out. in the near future as part of the "Koktem" republican command and staff exercises.
