In the framework of the World Childhood Cancer Day, which is celebrated on February 15, the Ministry of Health, together with the Asel Baiseitova Charity Foundation, announced the "Every Drop in Blood" goodwill campaign.
The goal of the campaign, which will last from February 3 to February 27, is to inform the population of the Republic of Kazakhstan about the development of the medical industry and to pay attention to replenishing the national registry of hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) donors.
As part of the campaign, lectures on the topic of "Bone Marrow Donation" will be held at the local level with the participation of employees of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and health departments of all regions of the country, and blood will be donated by donors.
The 5th World Childhood Cancer Day is celebrated. This day was established in order to raise awareness among the population and the medical community about the need for timely diagnosis and treatment, as well as the achievements and problems of pediatric oncology. This day also reminds us of the importance of uniting the efforts of medical professionals, public and charitable foundations in the fight against this serious disease.
Every year, 600 children in Kazakhstan are diagnosed with cancer for the first time. The use of modern treatment methods allows us to increase the survival rate of children with cancer.
One of the effective methods of treating childhood cancer is hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. When a patient needs a transplant, the first thing to do is to look for a donor among relatives.
However, the chance of finding a person with a suitable genotype is only 1 in 10,000 cases. Therefore, the development of bone marrow donation is of great importance for the treatment of children with cancer.
Every blood donation can be a lifesaver for young patients with oncohematology.
