According to the Almaty Directorate for Management of Sports Facilities, an inspection and assessment of the technical condition of the Medeu ice rink and its engineering networks was carried out in 2023. The purpose of this study is to develop a modernization concept and design and estimate documentation. According to the expert report, the ice rink currently meets safety requirements for mass skating.
Main areas of modernization:
Improvement of the Medeu Ice Rink territory: creation of a promenade along the western line of the ice rink, installation of pedestrian stairs around the rink, improvement of the southern slope, along the right bank of the Esentai River, installation of two emergency stairs in the southeastern and southwestern parts to improve the adjacent territory and make it more convenient for citizens with disabilities.
Modernization of engineering systems: modernization of refrigeration equipment and the ice rink cooling system, modernization of the technological board with complete replacement of pipelines, replacement of the heating system with gas, modernization of the heating and heating system for spectator seats, modernization of infrastructure elements to increase energy efficiency and create comfortable conditions for visitors, complete replacement of engineering systems, communications and electrical equipment are planned.
In addition, a complete reconstruction of the Medeu Hotel is planned
During the reconstruction, preserving the historical appearance and cultural heritage of the Medeu ice rink remains a top priority.
