Economic growth of Zhambyl region in 2024 amounted to 4.3 percent

The expanded akimat meeting chaired by the akim of Zhambyl region, Yerbol Karashukeyev, reviewed the results of the region's socio-economic development for 2024.
Before the discussion, the akim of the region spoke in detail about the main tasks for the upcoming period set by the Head of State at the expanded meeting of the Government.
The first is diversification of the economy. The akim of the region emphasized the importance of strengthening investment attraction. Last year, 35 investment projects worth 214.0 billion tenge were implemented in Zhambyl region, creating 1.5 thousand jobs. In 2025, the task is to implement 33 projects worth 555.0 billion tenge.
The second is the transition to a new level of infrastructure development. This year, it is planned to reduce the level of wear and tear of heating networks in the region to 53 percent. By the end of this year, the water supply level should reach 100 percent, and the natural gas supply level should reach 91.8 percent.
The share of roads in good and satisfactory condition will be increased to 99.5 percent, and the street and road network to 89 percent.
In 2025, it is planned to commission 770 thousand square meters of housing, purchase 361 apartments for socially vulnerable groups of the population, and provide housing for about 150 young families under the "Aulieata Youth" program.
Thirdly, the comprehensive introduction of digital technologies. The regional akim gave a number of tasks to the Department of Digitization and Archives to improve the quality of cellular communications, develop artificial intelligence, and revitalize the work of the IT hub in Taraz.
Fourthly, the development of energy and the creation of a nuclear cluster.
It is planned to implement 3 major projects in the field of renewable energy sources in Moyinkum, Sarysu, and Talas districts. A 200 MW steam-gas plant will also be installed in Taraz.
These projects correspond to the instructions of the Head of State to strengthen the power grids in the southern region.
The fifth is to strengthen the potential of the agro-industrial complex.
In 2025-2027, it is planned to implement 22 projects worth 67.4 billion tenge in the agro-industrial complex. Thus, the volume of milk production will increase by 6.5%, and the storage volume by 10%.
Also, this year, the construction of a unique plant for deep processing of corn with a capacity of 500 thousand tons has begun in conjunction with the Fufeng Group company.
It is planned to implement 2 projects aimed at assembling agricultural machinery.
The sixth is to reform the tax and budget policy. The revenue part of the regional budget was implemented by 100.2%. Own revenues of local budgets were fulfilled by 100.7 percent and amounted to 1.3 billion tenge.
The regional akim also noted a number of tasks within the framework of the President's instructions on financial support for important projects.
The eighth is to optimize social support and further develop the healthcare, education and science sectors.
This year, it is planned to complete the construction of 21 educational facilities and carry out major repairs of 13 facilities. Major repairs will be carried out at 4 large medical facilities for a total amount of 1,486.7 million tenge.
As part of the Year of Worker Professions, the regional akim instructed colleges to determine a list of specialties needed in the region and provide guidance for training in-demand personnel.
The volume of state orders in technical and vocational education organizations will increase to 8,500 places. Within the framework of the targeted state order, 500 students will be trained at the request of enterprises.
The regional akim undertook to make prompt decisions in all areas and ensure the timely implementation of the President's instructions.
During the meeting, the head of the Department of Economics and Budget Planning, Sandugash Abraliyeva, reported on the results of 2024.
Last year, the economic growth of Zhambyl region amounted to 4.3 percent. The highest growth was observed in the sectors of industry (1.9%), construction (16.2%), housing construction (4.5%), trade (2.9%), transport (9.9%), and communications (7.9%).
The total volume of investments in fixed assets amounted to 506.8 billion tenge.
During the reporting period, 759 thousand square meters of housing were commissioned. 26 houses with 1,159 apartments were commissioned from the budget, and 38 houses with 1,547 apartments from private investors.
Reports were heard from a number of district akims and heads of departments who failed to fulfill the plan in each sector. Yerbol Karashukeyev focused on significant shortcomings in the industry and investment attraction sectors.
The relevant department, the Taraz SEC, Taraz and district akimats were instructed to strengthen coordination work to ensure the flow of additional investments into the economy.
Expanding business ties, akims should find potential investors themselves and propose projects taking into account the specifics of each district. Its results will be discussed at a monthly meeting with the participation of the head of the region.
The regional akim emphasized that measures would be taken against responsible persons for failure to fulfill the tasks set based on the results of the first quarter of 2025.
