In his speech, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated the participants of the event on the upcoming Day of Workers of Agriculture, Food and Processing Industry.
The Head of State noted that the forum coincided with another significant event – the 70th anniversary of the beginning of the development of virgin lands in Kazakhstan. In his opinion, thanks to virgin soil, the domestic agricultural industry has undergone significant positive changes, and our country has become one of the main breadbaskets in the world in a short time.
– Kazakhstan ranks sixth in terms of arable land and pastures. We are one of the ten largest wheat exporting countries, as well as one of the leaders in flour exports. Despite the fact that this year turned out to be difficult, we were able to harvest a record harvest in the last 10 years – 26.7 million tons of grain. I congratulate our farmers and express my sincere gratitude to them for this wonderful achievement! – said the Head of State.
The President said that thanks to the systemic measures taken, inflation has decreased, and the growth of the national economy in January-October 2024 amounted to more than 4%.
– By the end of the year, 180 industrial projects are expected to be implemented for a total amount of 1.2 trillion tenge. In particular, large plants for the production of copper cathode (Karaganda region), ferroalloys (Pavlodar region), components for trucks (Kostanay region), cement (Zhambyl region), processing of precious metals (Zhambyl region) will be introduced. Production facilities for processing tungsten ores (Almaty region), assembly of brand cars have already been launched Chevrolet Onix (Kostanay region), production of copper concentrate (Zhambyl region), thermal insulation materials (Almaty region), ceramic tiles (Shymkent). Thanks to the opening of a polypropylene plant in Atyrau region, a full-fledged branch of petrochemical industry has been formed. Next in line are projects for the production of polyethylene and butadiene. A project for the production of "green" hydrogen will be implemented in the Mangystau region with the participation of a European consortium. In this way, completely new enterprises are being created for our country, whose products meet advanced international standards and are in demand in foreign markets," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed.
According to him, the main goal is to give a new impetus to the development of the agricultural sector.
– It is necessary to turn agriculture into a competitive advanced industry. The agro-industrial complex should become one of the main driving forces of economic growth. Both business and the state are interested in this. First of all, it is important from the point of view of ensuring food security. The life and well–being of the villagers also directly depend on the state of the industry," the Head of State said.
In his speech, the President outlined the main directions of further work, such as ensuring the availability of financing for the agricultural sector, continuing active work on the industrialization of agriculture, the development of agricultural science, the revival of breeding and seed production, the widespread introduction of advanced technologies, increasing the availability of agricultural machinery, strengthening the export potential of agriculture.
The Head of State stressed that during the next year, declared the Year of Working Professions, the focus should be on working people. He expressed confidence that this would contribute to the popularization of the values of hard work and professionalism in society.
– We have many examples of how knowledge and experience are passed on in the family from generation to generation. This continuity creates genuine professionals who are sincerely dedicated to their work. Labor dynastic traditions are very strong in the agricultural sector. After all, it is in the village, which has a living connection with the earth, that family values are especially respected, they listen to the wisdom of their elders, and they take care of the environment. Strong farms are usually created by the efforts of several generations. Success does not come immediately in this industry, but farmers know that the land always rewards patience and hard work," the President noted.
The forum was also attended by Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov, Director of Kayyp-Ata LLP Syrym Yertaev, Director of KT Zenchenko and K Gennady Zenchenko, CEO of Alarko Holding Umit Nuri Yildiz, Vice President of Aitas KZ Group of Companies Rabiga Tokseitova.
By presidential decree, on the eve of the Day of Workers of Agriculture, Food and Processing industry, a group of sphere workers was awarded state awards for fruitful work in the field of the domestic agro-industrial complex, contribution to the infrastructural development of the rural sector of Kazakhstan.
In particular, the title "Kazakhstan Enbek Yeri" with the order "Otan" was awarded to the general director of the partnership "Zenchenko and K" Zenchenko Gennady Gennadievich. A number of agricultural workers became holders of the orders "Barys" of the II, III degrees, "Parasat" and "Kurmet", "Enbek danky" of the III degree, and were also awarded the medal "Yeren enbegi ushin".
In addition, the President visited the exhibition of agricultural producers, which presented products of deep processing, modern agricultural technologies, investment projects, including with the participation of foreign investors. The Head of State was also familiarized with innovative solutions, achievements in the field of crop production and animal husbandry.
The first forum of agricultural workers gathered more than 2,000 participants from all regions of the country. The event was attended by representatives of agricultural holdings, farmers, farm workers, as well as members of public associations, investors.
