At the staff meeting, Akim of the region Askhat Shakharov heard information about preparations for winter maintenance of highways in the region.
Head of the Department of Passenger Transport and Highways of Aktobe region Aybek Kayer said that 2.7 billion tenge was planned for the maintenance of local roads in winter in 2025. This amount will be approved at the next session of the regional maslikhat.
The total length of roads in the region is 4,440 km, including 1,265 km of regional significance and 3,175 km of district significance. 43 contractors are responsible for the winter maintenance of these roads. 401 units of equipment have been prepared, five thousand tons of inert materials and 965 tons of diesel fuel have been harvested. As Aibek Kayer noted, it remains to prepare the heating points and provide them with the necessary stock of products, as well as complete the work on cleaning culverts along the roads.
According to Aibol Danagul, director of the Aktobe regional branch of JSC NC KazAvtoZhol, the company maintains 1,869 km of roads of national importance. Of these, 117 km of roads are currently being repaired. Additional equipment has been brought in to speed up the completion process.
"101 snow-covered sections have been identified on the highway. 86 km of reinforced concrete fences were installed on 28 of them. Temporary wooden shields will be installed on the remaining sections. 15 heating stations have also been prepared for drivers and their passengers stuck in the snowfall on the roads. 28 units of special equipment have been mobilized. The company will lease the missing number of equipment. Inert materials are currently being harvested. In general, it is planned to prepare 9400 tons of sand and 2020 tons of salt," Aibol Danagul said about preparations for winter.
To prevent traffic jams, ring roads are being built on sections of the Aktobe – Khromtau– Karabutak and Samara-Shymkent highways. In addition, spare parking lots are being prepared for transport in case of snow drifts. One of them has already been opened near the village of Akzhar in Khromtau district.
Deputy Akim of the city Zhuldyzbek Bisembin, in turn, reported on preparations for winter maintenance of roads in the regional center. The city is divided into 24 plots, each with a contractor assigned to it, which is responsible for its winter maintenance. 350 units of equipment will leave for street cleaning in winter. To clear the city of snow, 30 brigades (40 loaders, 150 dump trucks) and 20 brigades (20 loaders, 60 dump trucks) will be mobilized during the day shift. Contractors have already stocked up on 1,250 tons of salt, 1,830 tons of sand-salt mixture and more than 2,000 tons of sand.
After listening to reports on preparations for winter road maintenance in the region, Askhat Shakharov instructed to ensure full readiness for winter road maintenance, timely response to weather conditions and safety for all road users.
"It is necessary to ensure road safety and minimize risks for drivers in winter. Special attention should be paid to the timely completion of road repairs and prompt response to bad weather. All work should be carried out taking into account weather conditions and the needs of the population. It is important not only to promptly eliminate the consequences of snowfall, but also to prepare in advance – to organize heating points, supplies of sand and salt, to ensure the availability of fences and special equipment. Conditions for safe movement on roads should be provided in all key areas," the mayor stressed.
