In order to safely pass the heating period, the Ministry of Emergency Situations is holding a "Helping Hand" campaign, during which targeted fire prevention assistance is provided to low-income families, single pensioners and people with disabilities.
Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, together with local executive bodies and volunteers, clean chimneys from soot, repair heating stoves, install pre-heating sheets at the furnace, clean the yard area from combustible debris, repair electrical systems, etc.
Events have also been organized to deliver firewood and coal to families in need.
In total, 2450 houses and a boarding house for the elderly were covered by the campaign during the month.
At the same time, as part of the preparation and safe passage of the heating season, carbon monoxide, natural gas and smoke detectors have been installed in 15,668 houses of socially vulnerable segments of the population.
As part of the campaign, explanatory work is also carried out, citizens are informed about the basic rules of fire safety at home.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds:
- use only serviceable furnaces;
- do not allow the furnace to overflow;
- clean the chimney of soot in time;
- regularly inspect the furnace and chimney for malfunctions;
- do not charge the furnace to children;
- move the furniture away from the stove;
- do not dry firewood, clothing, or other combustible items near the stove;
- do not use flammable liquids for kindling.
Everyone can make their home safe.
