In 2023, the governor of the East Kazakhstan region, Yermek Kosherbayev, declared this year the "Year of Roads". During this year, a record 600 kilometers of roads were repaired for the region.
- The routes for road repairs were chosen not only on the basis of economic feasibility, but also according to the wishes of motorists and residents of the East Kazakhstan region. Special attention was paid in the region to the repair and reconstruction of trails leading to popular tourist destinations, - said the head of the region Yermek Kosherbayev at a briefing in the Central Communications Service.
Rural settlements did not stand aside either, this year in 79 small villages for the first time it is planned to gradually asphalt 120 km of central streets and install street lighting.
This year, a large-scale repair took place on the republican highways passing through the territory of the region. In total, 392 km of roads are planned to be repaired in 2024-2025. As a result of the implementation of these projects, all unsatisfactory sections of highways of national importance will be brought into good condition.
The average repair of the roadway is carried out on several sections of the national highway with a total length of 78 km within the framework of the republican budget. Among them: the Ust-Kamenogorsk- Ridder-gr. RF highway with a total length of 30 km (from Ust-Kamenogorsk to Mikhailovka village), Ust-Kamenogorsk-Semey with a length of 18 km (fromTavria to the village of Novo-Azovoye), Ust-Kamenogorsk- Shemonaiha- gr. RF with a length of 30 km (from the village of Kozhokhov to the village of Novoilinka).
In 2025, it is also planned to complete and put into operation one of the largest long-term construction projects in the region of the Ust–Kamenogorsk - Rakhmanovskie Klyuchi highway. This includes the construction of a bridge, paving, as well as reinforcement work and improvement of road infrastructure. This road connects 3 districts and leads to one of the tourist attractions of Kazakhstan in Katon-Karagai district.
Speaking of roads, it is impossible not to recall the completion of one of the largest transport and logistics projects in East Kazakhstan - the bridge over the Bukhtarma reservoir, which connects six districts at once and allows residents not to depend on climatic conditions and ferry crossing. It should be noted that the bridge united the two banks of the largest artificial reservoir and the distance that previously had to be overcome for hours is now passed in exactly four minutes.
