SCIENTIFIC AND INNOVATIVE HACKATHON ON MINING AND METALLURGICAL INDUSTRY WAS HELD IN ASTANA
The scientific and innovative Hackathon on the mining and metallurgical industry brought together representatives of the scientific community, the manufacturing sector and managers on one platform to jointly search and develop scientific and technological solutions for the enterprises of the KAZ Minerals Group.
In his Message, the Head of State K.K.Tokayev set large-scale and responsible tasks for the socio-economic development of the country and strengthening the innovative potential of economic sectors. A special role in the implementation of these tasks is assigned to Russian science. It was also stressed that large enterprises from all regions of the country should be involved in the process of widespread implementation of the results of scientific research into production.
The initiator of the scientific and innovative Hackathon was the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and KAZ Minerals Group. The meeting was devoted to the scientific and technological development of the mining and processing industry of KAZ Minerals Group. The participants discussed current challenges and prospects for the company's development, as well as identified key areas for innovation in the industry.
Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek noted that today we face the task not only to develop fundamental research, but also to actively introduce scientific developments into production. "The hackathon is a good opportunity for our scientists and industrialists to join forces to solve specific technological challenges. Innovative formats such as this one are the basis for the successful commercialization of science and technological progress in the country. The hackathon will help to form a map of scientific and technological development and prepare scientific, production and industrial solutions based on the developments of domestic scientists," the minister said.
Chairman of the Board of KAZ Minerals Management Eldar Mammadov noted the company's development prospects - cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and with scientific organizations, in particular, opens up new opportunities for technological improvements and optimization of processes at all stages of production. The integration of scientific developments into production processes allows not only to increase efficiency and reduce costs, but also contributes to increased productivity and compliance with high safety standards. For our Group, cooperation with the scientific community is an important contribution to the development of the industry as a whole, since the scientific approach contributes to the introduction of more sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. We are confident that science and innovation are the key to the long–term success and sustainable development of our company and industry.
The hackathon focused not only on current issues, but also on the future of the mining and metallurgical industry. The participants presented research in the field of exploration, mining, enrichment, ecology, safety, digital monitoring systems to improve production processes. In particular, solutions for processing tailings from processing plants, optimizing ore fragmentation processes to increase productivity and energy costs in the grinding circuit, and working off low-margin reserves of the Irtysh deposit were discussed. The topics covered were the use of more effective reagents and new technologies to increase the extraction of copper, zinc, lead and precious metals in processing plants, the development of digital monitoring systems to assess the likelihood of falling chips in mining, the use of augmented reality glasses during decontamination work, the use of 3D scanning tools, AI, MO and others for monitoring and estimates of stocks of concentrates in warehouses of finished products, the impact of working conditions on the occurrence of occupational diseases of the musculoskeletal system, the relationship of occupational diseases with production and much more.
Based on the results of the discussion in the working groups, the experts developed technological recommendations. The primary scientific and technical tasks and topics of future research have been identified. In conclusion, the TOP 5 priority projects of the KAZ Minerals Group were selected.
