On November 15, 2024, in Baku, on the sidelines of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, a working meeting of representatives of the member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation on environmental issues was held.
During the event, the Parties exchanged views on current environmental issues and prospects for cooperation in the region.
The focus was on climate change mitigation and conservation of biological diversity, as well as the importance of strengthening the role of the Organization.
It should be noted that since 2025, the Republic of Kazakhstan assumes the chairmanship of the ECO. In this regard, during the meeting, the representative of the Kazakh side outlined promising areas of cooperation during the presidency.
Taking into account the current threats of climate change, representatives of ECO countries stressed the need for immediate and coordinated action at the international level to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, protect ecosystems and ensure resilience to climate change.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed interest in strengthening cooperation and coordination between ECO member States at the multilateral and bilateral levels on environmental issues.
