Since the beginning of the 2024-2025 academic year, the number of teachers in secondary education organizations has reached 406 thousand, which is 8 thousand more than last academic year. This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan with reference to the Committee of Secondary Education.

A high rate of hiring teachers is noted in Turkestan, Almaty, Zhambyl regions and the city of Shymkent. Thus, the shortage of specialists in the regions has been completely eliminated. Also, the demand for teachers is replenished by graduates who have graduated from pedagogical universities. This is due to the positive dynamics of recent years, when more and more talented young people are entering pedagogical specialties. For example, last year 1,500 holders of the Altyn Belgi badge chose the teaching profession, and this year their number has increased to 1,800.

"The number of educational grants allocated by local executive bodies for the training of teachers with higher education continues to grow. Despite the increase in the passing score for admission to pedagogical specialties from 50 to 75 points, interest in the profession remains high. This year, about 48 thousand people became graduates of universities in pedagogical specialties, of which about 2 thousand received education at the expense of grants from regional akims. About eight thousand new teachers have been accepted into the organization of secondary education," said Kanybek Zhumashev, Chairman of the Secondary Education Committee.

Recall that since 2021, a number of measures have been taken to attract young qualified specialists to the education system, including by increasing the number of grants for pedagogical specialties, increasing the amount of scholarships for students of pedagogical specialties from 58 thousand to 67 thousand tenge, etc. At the same time, the average score of applicants enrolled in pedagogical specialties was 115.
