The workshop in Incheon discussed the principles and steps needed to be taken in the development of reviews, issues of scientific validity of reviews, as well as the problems of limited evidence to reflect progress towards the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
During the event, Director of the Department of Social Sphere Development, Law Enforcement and Special Agencies of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan NurgulzHannazarova presented Kazakhstan's approaches to submitting a Voluntary National Review in 2025, and also spoke about the experience of submitting reviews in 2019, 2022.
According to her, Kazakhstan presented the first review on July 16, 2019 during the High-level Political Forum among other 51 UN member states. The main focus was on 6 thematic goals: "Quality education", "Decent work and economic growth", "Reducing inequality", "Combating climate change", "Peace, justice and effective institutions", "Partnership for Sustainable Development".
The second review was presented in July 2022 on 5 priority sustainable development goals for the country: "Poverty eradication", "Good health and well-being", "Quality education", "Clean water and sanitation", "Decent work and economic growth".
Recall that Kazakhstan was included in the list of countries approved by the UN in October this year, presenting a Voluntary National Review in 2025 at the High-level Political Forum in New York.
