On the sidelines of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), held in Baku from November 11 to 22, 2024, Kazakhstan presents an extensive program demonstrating the country's commitment to achieving climate goals.
A number of thematic sessions are planned in the country's pavilion, addressing issues in various fields, including food security and sustainable land management.
"Effective adaptation to climate change and combating desertification require an integrated approach that combines various measures. The Land Management Committee is taking institutional measures aimed at sustainable land management and improving the country's food security. The Committee participates in global initiatives such as the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). A number of projects are underway in cooperation with international organizations aimed at restoring degraded lands.
The integration of these measures ensures not only adaptation to current changes, but also prevention of future risks associated with land degradation and climate change," Murat Temirzhanov, Chairman of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, said at the COP29 session.
The detailed and broad presentation of Kazakhstan's capabilities in COP29 demonstrates the country's active position in the global fight against climate change and the desire for sustainable development.
