Doctors of the Republican AIDS Center of Karakalpakstan arrived in Astana to study the experience of the capital's specialists in the prevention and treatment of HIV infection, the official website of the city akimat reports.
During the round table, a memorandum of partnership was signed between the Republican AIDS Center of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the capital's HIV Prevention Center.
"We highly appreciate the interest of our guests in learning from the experience of organizing an HIV event in our capital. We hope that our experience will help you in the further implementation of work to combat HIV infection," said Aliya Rustemova, head of the Public Health Department of the capital.
It should be noted that in his Message to the people of Kazakhstan on September 2, the Head of State noted that "people are the main value of our country" and stressed the need to implement comprehensive measures to strengthen the health of the nation.
One of these areas is the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of HIV infection.
Every year, more than 25% of the city's population is tested for HIV, which means that more than 80% of cases are detected at stage 1-2, which significantly increases patients' access to antiretroviral therapy. This was announced by Kanat Askarov, Director of the city Center for HIV Prevention, at the round table "The UNAIDS Strategy for achieving the 95-95-95 indicators: prevention, diagnosis and treatment of HIV infection."
This event was held as part of the HIV prevention month dedicated to World AIDS Day.
To date, the cumulative number of people living with HIV infection in Astana who are aware of their status is about 2,700 people. More than 60% of the detected cases are in the age group of 20-39 years. In our country, HIV treatment is provided free of charge.
