8 years later Aktobe hosts judoists from all over the country on its tatami

Today is the second day of the Kazakhstan Judo Championship, which is taking place in Aktobe. Its winners will be included in the National team of the country.
Aktobe accepts judoists from all over the country on its tatami after eight years. It was in 2016 that competitions of this scale were held in our city for the last time.
This year's Kazakhstan Judo Championship is held among men and women. It takes place from November 15 to 18 at the Konys sports complex.
510 judoists from 17 regions, as well as from Astana, Almaty and Shymkent, take part in the competition. Athletes compete for medals in seven weight categories.
"Three experienced international judges who previously worked at three Olympic Games, as well as a representative of the International Judo Federation (IJF), the Secretary General of the organization, have been invited to the Kazakhstan Judo Championship in Aktobe. Their task is to ensure objective refereeing and transparent drawing of the competition. The presence of such specialists will primarily contribute to an objective assessment of the level of Kazakhstani athletes and increase confidence in the results of the championship," Aybek Imashev, Executive Director of the Judo Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, noted the peculiarity of the competitions.
Aibek Imashev also explained why the national championship is being held in Aktobe.
"Aktobe is a significant center for the development of judo in the country. One of the strongest judo schools was founded here, honored coaches work, and the region has trained many outstanding athletes, including the first prize-winners of world tournaments. Among them are the first medalist of the World Judo Championship, the silver medalist of the World Championship, participants of the Olympic Games. There are many other successful judo athletes from the Aktobe region who have contributed to the international achievements of Kazakhstan. The regional representative office of the Judo Federation initiated the championship in Aktobe, and this proposal was supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports," he explained.
According to acting head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports of the Aktobe region Shyngys Shokputov, Aktobe judoists Zhanarys Rakhmetkali (66 kg), Eset Kuanov (73 kg), Adlet Almat (73 kg) take part in the championship. Athletes of the region are represented in all weight categories.
It is worth noting that the championship also includes mixed team competitions, the winner of which will receive the Kazakhstan Cup.
