Kazakh Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev took part in the first ministerial meeting of the World Group on Thermonuclear Energy under the auspices of the IAEA in Rome.
The meeting participants discussed the key tasks and challenges facing the world community in the development of thermonuclear energy, including issues of financing, technology, human resources and legal regulation.
The Head of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan made a report at the meeting and noted the importance of thermonuclear energy, which in the future can become one of the solutions to global energy challenges such as climate change, depletion of traditional resources and provision of environmentally friendly energy for future generations.
According to the Minister, thermonuclear energy represents a unique opportunity for Kazakhstan to build a safe and sustainable future.
"We are deeply convinced that thermonuclear energy requires collective efforts and mutual support in the international arena. Thermonuclear technologies create unique challenges that require the consolidation of scientific and technological knowledge, resources and political will," A. Satkaliev stressed.
The Minister informed the meeting participants that Kazakhstan actively supports research and development in the field of thermonuclear fusion and has already made a significant contribution to the development of international scientific infrastructure. In particular, an important achievement in this direction was the creation of a unique research complex of the Kazakhstan Tokamak Materials Science (KTM), located at the National Nuclear Center in the city of Kurchatov.
KTM serves as the basis for the formation of a solid technological base for future thermonuclear energy.
"We see that working together helps to accelerate research, improve its quality and create conditions for innovative scientific discoveries. We urge all those gathered here to continue and expand cooperation with research organizations such as the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, ITER and involve as many countries and partners as possible in this process," he urged.
The Head of the Ministry of Energy stressed that Kazakhstan is always open to international collaborations and is ready to provide access to our experimental facilities.
"We are ready to create an international thermonuclear fusion laboratory on the basis of the KTM tokamak," the minister said.
For reference: In Kurchatov, on the basis of the RSE "National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan", there is a unique research facility for the development of thermonuclear fusion technologies, the Kazakhstan Tokamak (toroidal chamber with magnetic coils) materials Science (KTM).
KTM is the world's first specialized tokamak designed for the study of materials and structures of future thermonuclear reactors.
KTM is designed to test materials that can withstand the extreme operating conditions of thermonuclear reactors, such as high temperatures, plasma density and radiation radiation.
