Our compatriot Sagyndyk Togambai won the Asian Boxing Championship, which was held in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The athlete of the national team in the 92 kg weight category defeated Parviz Karimov (Tajikistan) in the final. The bronze medalist of the Asian Games in Hangzhou dominated the first and second rounds, knocking out his opponent. Then he continued to deliver heavy blows, preventing Karimov from recovering.
The athletes of the Turkestan professional Boxing Club, representing the national team, also performed successfully. Sagyndyk Togambai became the 92 kg champion in the men's category, and Ulzhan Sarsenbek won the bronze medal in the 57 kg category among women.
In total, the men's national team of Kazakhstan won 4 gold medals: Mahmud Sabyrkhan (54 kg), Bekzat Nurdauletov (86 kg), Sagyndyk Togambai (92 kg) and Aybek Oralbai (+92 kg). The team also won 5 silver and 1 bronze medals. The women's national team took the first place, winning 5 gold medals.
