Abay region grows industrial potential

Minister of Industry and construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Sharlapayev visited Semey and met with residents of the region. At the meeting, the minister noted the positive dynamics in the region's economy and noted the growth of exports of industrial products by 46% compared to last year.
Particular attention was paid to the development of water supply and sanitation infrastructure. This year, 2.3 billion tenge was allocated for the implementation of 8 urban projects, and 3.8 billion tenge – for 16 rural projects.
The minister also spoke about the provision of industry with qualified personnel. This year, 13 professional standards have been developed for such industries as mechanical engineering, metallurgy, chemical production and the construction industry. In the next two years, it is planned to develop another 141 standards.
During the working visit, the minister visited a number of industrial and construction facilities. In the karagaily microdistrict, they saw 9-storey residential buildings built of silicate bricks. This year, it is planned to put into operation 404.7 thousand square meters of housing in the region. This will provide housing for 3.8 thousand families. 12.5 billion tenge is provided for the purchase of rental housing for socially vulnerable segments of the population.
Further, Kanat Sharlapayev visited Semipalatinsk shoe factory LLP, Eikos LLP, Semipalatinsk cement plant PC LLP, Semipalatinsk garment factory LLP, as well as Kazpoligraf LLP and Semipalatinsk Machine-Building Plant JSC.
The region is considered an agricultural region, but the industrial potential is high. Industry is developing rapidly in the region. For 10 months of this year, the volume of industrial production amounted to 1.6 trillion tenge. Only the mining industry provided 1.1 trillion Tenge, the growth was 1.4% compared to the previous period.
