In honor of the main national holiday — Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan, symbolizing freedom, unity and prosperity of the country, the Almaty City Tourism Department, together with the Border Control Department at the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Almaty International Airport, organizes a unique campaign called "Sweet gift as a greeting". The event is designed to create a festive mood and emphasize the deep respect of Almaty residents for the traditions of hospitality.
At the time of passport control, passengers will receive sweet presents — traditional Kazakhstani chocolate and cookies. The campaign will cover over 5,000 passengers on more than 50 international flights, creating an atmosphere of warmth and friendliness for arriving guests from the very first minutes of their stay in Almaty.
This initiative is part of the global program to improve the quality of the tourist service "Visitor Experience".
Almaty actively forms a positive perception of the city as a modern, hospitable and cultural destination for travelers from all over the world. According to Mastercard, the high level of service and unique impressions from visiting the city contribute to the return of guests — from January to October 2024, the share of repeat visits was 25%.
Special attention is paid to improving the professionalism of border guards and customs control officers. The annual hospitality facilitation sessions help them improve their communication skills with international guests, which ensures a high standard of service and gives travelers a sense of care and respect.
Statistics confirm the success of Almaty as one of the leading tourist centers in the region: in 9 months of 2024, the total tourist flow increased by 14.2%, reaching 1,729,601 people. The number of foreign tourists increased by 24%, amounting to 507,567 people, which is more than half of the total tourist flow in Kazakhstan.
