The issue of providing social support to people with disabilities living in Aktobe region was discussed at a meeting with the participation of Akim of the region Askhat Shakharov.
According to the head of the Department for the Coordination of Employment and social programs Lazzat Urazbaeva, 30,241 people with disabilities live in the region, including 5,305 children. Since the beginning of the year, 20,166 people with special needs have used the Portal's services. In addition, the assistance of a social worker at home is provided to 388 special children and 1,655 lonely elderly people and people with disabilities.
"Within the framework of the state social order, 8 public organizations provide rehabilitation assistance to 378 children with special educational needs. Also, 743 Aktobe residents with disabilities receive special social services in stationary conditions in social service centers. The Invataxi service is working properly. Today, 1,849 people with disabilities use invataxi services. The service employs nine special vehicles equipped with a lift," Lazzat Urazbaeva said.
The head of the department also focused on the issue of employment of people with disabilities. Since the beginning of the year, 1,449 people with disabilities have been covered by employment measures. 450 of them were employed on a permanent basis, 410 people were sent to subsidized jobs. Another 473 applicants were trained in the basics of entrepreneurship under the Bastau Business project, 92 people with disabilities received a grant to open their own business.
"In 2024, subsidies in the amount of 14.1 million tenge were allocated to subsidize the costs of employers to create jobs for people with disabilities. During the reporting period, 8 special jobs were created in the amount of 6.8 million tenge. A quota for 147 people with disabilities has been established at 70 enterprises. According to the quota, 64 people have been employed today," Lazzat Urazbaeva noted.
In addition, the construction of a rehabilitation center for people with disabilities for 150 places in the Yeset Batyr microdistrict continues. The facility is planned to be commissioned in 2025.
After hearing the report, the governor of the region instructed to accelerate the work on the adaptation of facilities for unhindered access of persons with disabilities. As of today, 874 of the planned 1,292 facilities have been adapted in the region. They were also instructed to strengthen the work on creating an inclusive environment in society and ensure more effective cooperation with health and education institutions.
