From emergency housing to modern complexes: how renovation is changing the capital

In the capital, as part of the dilapidated housing renovation program, they provide for the demolition of emergency houses and the relocation of residents of the capital to new housing. In 2024, residents of 33 emergency houses will be relocated to 703 apartments, about 3,000 residents of the capital will be provided with new housing, the official website of the capital's akimat reports.
Since 2013, residents of 286 emergency houses have been relocated, more than 4,500 families have received new comfortable apartments.
As part of the housing renovation project for 2023-2029, residents of 206 emergency houses will be relocated to 4,710 apartments in Astana.
For example, work has begun in the Baikonur area together with investors. The renovation will cover 343 hectares of land in the central part of the metropolitan area.
As part of the program, in accordance with the master plan, 865 old and dilapidated residential buildings will be demolished in the Baikonur district.
Instead, they plan to build multi-storey residential buildings, 9 educational institutions, 7 healthcare facilities including 4 polyclinics, 3 medical centers, 6 sports and cultural facilities, 27 commercial facilities, including shopping malls, business centers, hotels and parking lots, as well as 6 squares.
To date, the demolition of old houses at the intersection of Kenesary, Asan Kaigi, Taraza streets has begun in the district.
The renovation of the housing stock provides for a comprehensive reconstruction of the "old" quarters of the city by demolishing emergency (dilapidated) housing and relocating citizens from it in the order of requisition of an apartment building and a land plot on which the house is located.
According to the terms of the project, residents of emergency houses are provided with new apartments in equivalent sizes (i.e. "square" by "square"), regardless of the number of rooms and the number of residents, but not less than a one-room apartment, in accordance with the title documents.
On behalf of the Head of State, work is also being carried out to repair residential complexes, replace elevators, build preferential social housing, and complete the construction of long-term buildings.
Work in this area is being carried out systematically.
