In the Karaganda region, in the Osakarovka area, masts with wind turbines are already visible. The first wind farm in the region is being built by Giberborey. Its capacity will be 150 MW. At first, it took time to choose a suitable site where strong winds blow all year round. This year, the construction of a green energy facility began, and it is planned to be commissioned in 2025. There may be more of them in the future: two more wind farm projects are under development.
Azamat Taizhanov, First Deputy Akim of the Karaganda region, told the YouTube channel "Where the Akimat is looking" about the development of the potential of renewable energy sources.
Five installations are already generating clean energy in the region. Wind power plants will be added to the existing solar power plants.
– A project for the construction of a 150 MW wind farm is being implemented in the Osakarovsky district. Completion is planned for 2025. After commissioning, 20 new jobs will be created for the maintenance of the installation. There are plans to build a 500 MW wind farm in Temirtau and a 200 MW wind farm in Karkaralinsky district. The projects are under development," Azamat Tayzhanov said. – Each investor takes measurements before the project is implemented. That is, it takes a year or two for research. Only then does he start work.
The first deputy governor of the region answered questions concerning energy and housing and communal services in general.
To reduce infrastructure wear, networks are being upgraded and new ones are being built. This year, 17 projects have been implemented to improve heat supply, and 40 to improve water supply.
– Next year, this pace will not decrease. On behalf of the President of the country, a national project "Modernization of the energy and utility sectors" has been developed. The goal is to reduce the depreciation of existing assets by up to 40% by 2030. There is a lot of work to be done in this direction," Azamat Taizhanov said.
This year, the third heat sink was put into operation in Karaganda. According to the deputy governor of the region, this will provide stable heat for the next 5-7 years to the southeastern part of the city, including new buildings. There is enough capacity to heat about 20 thousand new apartments.
Meanwhile, housing construction is growing in the region. By the end of this year, 500 thousand square meters will be commissioned, which means that the load on the network is increasing. A number of energy source modernization projects are planned for additional capacities. As part of the investment agreements, by 2028, the companies have committed to the construction of two new boilers and four turbines at three stations – TPP-3 of Karaganda, Balkhashskaya TPP and Toparskaya GRES.
