Today, Vice Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerbolat Ibraikhanov, Deputy Akim of the region Nurbol Turashbekov held a meeting with heads of agricultural enterprises in the city of Zhetysai.
During the meeting, Kazbek Bedebayev, Director of the Turkestan branch of RSE Kazvodkhoz, reported on the work done and plans for the future. This year, the amount of water needed for irrigation of agricultural land was provided in accordance with the requests of farmers, and the growing season was stable. There are 552 thousand hectares of irrigated land in the region, which is a quarter of the national figure. There are 3,147 canals with a total length of 12,349 kilometers, 42 reservoirs, 1,256 drains and 1,794 wells in the region.
For 2024, funds have been allocated from the regional budget for major repairs of 9 water bodies and mechanical cleaning of 6 more. As a result of the work carried out, it is expected to improve the land reclamation condition and provide water to 42.4 thousand hectares of irrigated land.
To accelerate the construction and restoration of water bodies, priority is given to the effective use of the capabilities of the Turan Su regional enterprise. Thanks to the mechanical cleaning of drains owned by the region, the degree of their deterioration was reduced from 80% to 10%.
The Vice Minister noted that the repair of water channels will be carried out in stages, and urged farmers to master water-saving technologies. He stressed that farms switching to such technologies will be able to receive subsidies, and a separate tariff will be set for them. The participants of the meeting asked their questions and received information about changes related to water supply.
After the meeting, Vice Minister Yerbolat Ibraikhanov and Deputy akim of the region Nurbol Turashbekov held a personal reception of citizens, listened to their appeals and suggestions. The responsible specialists were given specific instructions to address the issues raised within the framework of the legislation.
