Two Karaganda schoolchildren took second place in the XVII round of the International Eurasian Olympiad in Informatics in Almaty. They had to solve 12 tasks in five hours.
The winners of the Eurasian Olympiad were Alisher Kaztaev, a student of the 11th grade of the N. Nurmakov specialized boarding school.
and Batyr Yerdenov, an eleventh-grader of the Chemical and Biological Research Institute.
Schoolchildren participated in the Olympiad as part of teams. There were three people in each room. Their composition was approved in November of this year, after the qualifying round. Students and teachers chose their teammates independently. For example, there were two high school students from Taraz in the team with Alisher Kaztaev.
– Since the Olympiad was international and the countries leading in sports programming in the world participated, the tasks were not easy. To solve them, you need not only to know the topics, but also to be able to optimally combine them with each other. This approach to thinking has changed our digital space. The result of this is ChatGPT and other services that help us," says computer science teacher Bakhtiyar Rakymzhan, who prepared Alisher Kaztayev for the Olympiad.
According to him, participation in the Eurasian Olympiad is an opportunity for schoolchildren to get into the top 4 in Kazakhstan to participate in the main world championship in sports programming – IOI.
The prizes at the Eurasian Olympiad give Alisher Kaztayev and Batyr Yerdenov an advantage when applying to leading universities in Kazakhstan, and will also be a significant advantage when compiling portfolios for foreign universities.
