How are schools in the Karaganda region fighting bullying

Coordinating teachers have started working in educational institutions of the Karaganda region to protect children from bullying and cyberbullying. Nine schools in the region participate in the republican pilot project "KiVa Anti-bullying Program", where children are taught mindfulness and the correct expression of emotions. Five schools are involved in the Doslike campaign aimed at improving the socio-emotional climate in educational institutions.
Gulbakyt Zhunusova, Head of the Department of Education of the Karaganda region, told about preventive work to prevent bullying in schools at a meeting of the Youth Council.
– Several new projects have been implemented in the region since last year. In particular, for the early identification of students in need of increased pedagogical attention, as well as for the recognition of signs of possible bullying and violence, a map of socio-psychological observation was developed. This tool is actively used by psychologists and social educators when attending lessons. The plans of the classroom teachers also include an "Hour of a psychologist," Gulbakyt Zhunusova noted.
In addition, together with the police department, pilot classes "Zhas Sakhi" have been opened at five schools this year – in Karaganda, Balkhash, Temirtau, Sarani and Nurinsky district
An automated HR+ psychological and pedagogical monitoring system has been introduced in 316 schools in the region. There are also educational support centers for parents.
At the Youth Council, vice-rectors of the Academician E. A. Buketov KarU and the Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz told about measures to prevent bullying in higher educational institutions.
– This issue is relevant not only for schools, but also for universities. It is important not only to eliminate the consequences, but also to take measures to prevent them, – said the head of the region Ermaganbet Bulekpayev.
Also at the meeting, the akims of Priozersk and Nurinsky district reported on the development of youth resource centers. In them, young people can get advice on employment, housing and participation in government programs.
The head of the Department for Youth Policy of the Karaganda region, Nurzhan Iliyash, presented the projects for the next year. During the discussion, many suggestions were received. The head of the region instructed to take them into account when finalizing projects, especially focusing on the issue of providing housing for young people.
