Today, 772 colleges operate in the technical and vocational education system, where 565 thousand students study. In order to provide the labor market with demanded specialists, the state is creating the opportunity for 9th grade graduates to receive free education.
This year, the number of students covered by free education in demanded technical and vocational education will be 153 thousand, which is an increase of 10 thousand places compared to last year. 70% of the state order will be directed to technical specialties, including mechanical engineering, transport, energy, IT, construction and other industries.
"The main priority is to train competitive specialists, fully provide educational institutions with a modern material and technical base, and improve the qualifications of teachers. Currently, comprehensive work is being carried out to transform the vocational and technical education system, which includes increasing the volume of state orders, introducing best international practices into educational programs, and holding professional mastery championships. It is also planned to attract business structures and investors to develop a dual training system for enterprises and train specialists,” noted Asset Mukhanbetov, Director of the Department of Technical and Vocational Education.
Currently, 518 enterprises provide patronage to colleges, and it is planned to increase their number to 4 thousand. In addition, together with employers, about 8 thousand educational programs have been developed, taking into account the requirements of professional standards and state compulsory education standards and WorldSkills standards. This year, colleges and employers will develop more than 2 thousand educational programs, and 2 thousand teachers will undergo internships at the production base.
