Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the Implementation of the Constitution

Astana, March 17, 2026 – President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed a Decree “On measures to implement the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan adopted on March 15, 2026.” The document follows the results of the national referendum, in which citizens supported the new version of the Constitution, opening a new stage of the country’s political modernization.

As noted by the Head of State, the new Constitution is a truly people-centered and historic document reflecting unity and solidarity within society, as well as a shared aspiration for renewal and development. Its provisions aim to build a “Just Kazakhstan,” strengthen independence and sovereignty, and advance the principles of justice, rule of law, and civic responsibility. The Constitution is intended to serve as a solid foundation for enhancing the quality of national development.

The Decree outlines a set of practical measures for the implementation of the updated Constitution. These measures are expected to strengthen public administration, expand citizen participation in political life, and support sustainable socio-economic development of the country.

The referendum on the new Constitution was held on March 15, 2026. Voter turnout reached 75.3%, with 86.7% of participants supporting the new Constitution. The revised Constitution will enter into force on July 1, 2026.
