The republican festival "City of Working Professions" has started at the EXPO International Exhibition Center in Astana. Representatives of educational institutions that train water specialists in the country and companies working in the water sector are participating in the event.
As part of the festival, future applicants will be able to receive detailed information about working professions in the water sector and educational institutions that interest them. Master classes, panel discussions and a job fair will also be held. In addition, festival guests will get acquainted with new developments in the field of water resource conservation and management, as well as projects being implemented in Kazakhstan.
Let us recall that the Head of State declared 2025 the "Year of Working Professions", and measures are being implemented in our country to increase the attractiveness and prestige of working professions.
Today, about 10 thousand specialists work in the water sector of Kazakhstan. 10 higher educational institutions and 8 vocational colleges train personnel in the field of water management and irrigation. In the 2024-2025 academic year, 523 applicants received grants in water specialties.
“In addition to attracting young people to the water sector of our country, it is also important to improve the skills of existing specialists. Last year, more than 500 representatives of the water sector underwent advanced training courses in specialized centers. This is 12% more than the initial plan. This year, about a thousand specialists will improve their skills, 105 of whom will study in China,” said Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation.
It should be noted that the “City of Working Professions” festival will continue until February 15.
