Kazakhstan and Latvia Strengthen Cooperation in Healthcare

Riga, 19 August 2026 – Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Latvia D. Karipov met with Latvia’s Minister of Health H. Abu Meri.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Latvia in the field of healthcare, as well as prospects for its further expansion.
Particular attention was paid to developing direct partnerships between healthcare institutions and higher education institutions, facilitating the exchange of experience among medical professionals, strengthening human resource capacity, and exploring other promising areas of mutually beneficial cooperation in healthcare.
In this context, the Kazakh diplomat emphasized the importance of concluding an intergovernmental agreement between the health ministries of the two countries in order to enhance bilateral cooperation in the healthcare sector. He presented the Latvian side with a draft of the relevant bilateral agreement prepared by the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
For his part, H. Abu Meri expressed interest in further developing cooperation with Kazakhstan in the field of healthcare. Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their readiness to give practical substance to Kazakhstan–Latvia cooperation in this area and to further strengthen direct contacts between the relevant authorities of the two countries.
The parties also agreed to hold an online meeting between the responsible representatives of the health ministries of Kazakhstan and Latvia to discuss the draft agreement in detail and identify practical areas for further cooperation
