As part of the large-scale screening program, more than 3.2 million citizens were examined in Kazakhstan in 2024.
The results showed that more than 120 thousand cases of the disease were detected at an early stage, which confirms the effectiveness of current measures to improve the early diagnosis system.
The following were identified during the screening:
118,497 cases of arterial hypertension - one of the most common diseases that, if not detected and controlled in a timely manner, can lead to stroke and heart attack.
•24 cases of diabetes mellitus 901 diagnosis — this is a disease that has become a pressing issue in the country in recent years.
* 6265 cases of glaucoma - a disease that can lead to blindness if left untreated.
What has changed in the screening system?
Some outdated and uninformative laboratory and instrumental methods have been replaced by modern and highly effective methods with proven accuracy.
- glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) for the diagnosis of diabetes (previously blood glucose was determined);
- glomerular filtration rate for the early detection of kidney disease;
- low-density lipoproteins in serum for assessing the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.
- liquid PAP test for the early detection of cervical cancer.
These approaches:
- reduce the number of complications, prevent complications that can lead to disability or death;
- make screening accessible (expand target groups).
In addition, by 2025 Starting from 2018, screening for early detection of the risk of developing cerebrovascular disorders (CVD) will be introduced for men over 50-70 years of age once every 2 years.
Molecular genetic testing for the transmission of spinal muscular atrophy will be introduced for girls aged 15-17.
Screening studies are being conducted in Kazakhstan for the early detection of the following 8 most common diseases:
✅Arterial hypertension (once every 2 years)
✅Ischemic heart disease (once every 2 years)
✅Diabetes mellitus (once every 2 years)
✅Glaucoma (once every 2 years)
Cervical cancer (once every 4 years)
✅Breast cancer (once every 2 years)
✅Colorectal cancer (once every 2 years)
✅Viral hepatitis (no more than once every 3-6 months).
The Ministry of Health urges all citizens to take care of their health and regularly invites you to undergo free screenings.
