This was stated by Almaty Mayor Yerbolat Dossayev during a meeting with residents of the Zhetysu district, answering a question about the quality of services provided by city transport.
“Improving the quality of service in public transport is one of the main issues. We are working in this direction on a regular basis with both private carriers and Almatyelectrotrans. There are positive changes, we can see this in the structure of applications at Open Almaty. The city's rolling stock has been updated, but there are questions about drivers," said Yerbolat Dossaev.
The mayor of the megalopolis noted that today the issue of providing enterprises with the regulatory requirements for the number of drivers and their shifts has not been fully resolved, and this work is related to revitalizing it.
"We have once again increased the salaries of drivers and intend to continue this so that the work of a public transport driver becomes prestigious. I also instructed colleges to work out the issue of training drivers, including in terms of the culture of communication with passengers. Those who have completed advanced training courses will receive a salary bonus. We will focus on improving the quality of work through material incentives, and some of these issues will be implemented by the end of the year," the mayor of Almaty noted.
It should be noted that this year 10 rest areas equipped with rest rooms for the driver staff will be built in the city.
