During a meeting with residents of the Zhetysu district, the city akim Yerbolat Dossaev told about the work that will be carried out to prevent the risk of landslides in the Zhetysu district of Almaty.
It should be noted that in February last year, on the instructions of the Almaty akim, a working group was created to study potentially dangerous areas throughout the city. For example, 2 areas were identified in the Zhetysu district along Shelikhov and Volochaevskaya streets, where in October 2024, work began to strengthen the slope by building retaining walls at the expense of funds from the local budget reserve. The work will be completed by the end of March 2025.
"In order to prevent an emergency situation caused by the landslide hazard of the upper part of the slope where the Kemel cemetery is located, the Esentai River channel has shifted by 4 m towards the cemetery over the past 2 years, in connection with which the development of design and estimate documentation for strengthening the slope will begin in March of this year. Construction work is planned to begin in August 2025," the Almaty mayor said.
To ensure public safety, last year, 31 "Sergek" hardware and software complexes were installed in the district - these are 171 cameras and 692 video surveillance cameras. This year, it is planned to install about 300 new video cameras. There are a total of 1,641 "Sergek" agricultural and industrial complexes in Almaty - 9,152 video cameras.
